New Kitty!
I went and adopted a new kitty yesterday! She's a year old, and I'm calling her Bandia (or Bandi for short), which is Irish Gaelic for "Goddess"

Pics under hereCollapse )

Can anyone tell me where I could possibly find a wiccan related mood theme for my journal?  Anything even remotely relevant, such as black cats, etc., would be great.  Thanks in advance.

All Souls Go to Hell (paper)
Hey, so I got an A on it! Enjoy! :)

Disclaimer: This is totally not to be taken seriously. The point was simply to take a totally unique thesis and "prove" it using existing information. Really, it's supposed to be something that cannot be conclusively proven at all. Mine is based on logic and interpretation of opinion/sources. Please read this as almost a satire. I also took out a lot of the internal documentation because it was only a formality for the class (holy book quotes and other direct quotes are still cited, though).

Now, on to the fun part.

Yes, it's trueCollapse )

The pro-life movement beats up women
bluetattoo74, who works in an abortion clinic, was assaulted yesterday by a male pro-lifer as she tried to go to work.

She was pushed against her car and throttled. When she tried to call the police, the man took her cell phone and smashed it. He screamed at her and threatened her. He broke into the clinic through a window.

Her full story here

I just can't stop thinking of Nathan's "My movement is nicer than your movement" icon. Irony. Nathan's movement throttles defenseless women going in to work. That's what pro-lifers are about. That's what their rhetoric creates: crazies willing to do this stuff.

In BlueTattoo's words:

he is the one who violated my right to a safe and happy life. the right to go to work without fear of getting shot or stabbed or bombed to death because i CHOOSE to help women. i choose to help women that our fucking lame-ass, misogynistic government turns their backs on. that our own friends, lovers, and family members turn their backs on. women that must make a choice that will shape the rest of their lives. a difficult choice. and impossible choice for some women. a glorious choice for others and a painful and excruciating choice for the young ones who don't even understand how this happened. this guy didn't even have a fucking UTERUS!!!! what gives him the right?!! he has no rights! fuck you guy! fuck you! you fucking crazy ass, sexist, fascist pig of a human being! WE WILL NOT GO BACK!!!

An Indiana mother recently accompanied her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend to one of Indiana's Planned Parenthood clinics, but they unwittingly walked into a so-called "crisis pregnancy center" run by an anti-abortion group, one that shared a parking lot with the real Planned Parenthood clinic and was designed expressly to lure Planned Parenthood patients and deceive them.

The group took down the girl's confidential personal information and told her to come back for her appointment, which they said would be in their "other office" (the real Planned Parenthood office nearby). When she arrived for her appointment, not only did the Planned Parenthood staff have no record of her, but the police were there. The "crisis pregnancy center" had called them, claiming that a minor was being forced to have an abortion against her will.

The "crisis pregnancy center" staff then proceeded to wage a campaign of intimidation and harassment over the following days, showing up at the girl's home and calling her father's workplace. Our clinic director reports that the girl was "scared to death to leave her house."
They even went to her school and urged classmates to pressure her not to have an abortion.

The anti-choice movement is setting up these "crisis pregnancy centers" across the country. Some of them have neutral-sounding names and run ads that falsely promise the full range of reproductive health services, but they dispense anti-choice propaganda and intimidation instead. And according to a recent article in The New York Times, there are currently more of these centers in the U.S. than there are actual abortion providers. What's more, these centers have received $60 million in government grants.
They're being funded by our tax dollars.

A bill has just been introduced in Congress to stop the fraudulent practices of fake clinics, but it desperately needs more support.
Tell your representative to take a stand: anti-choice extremists must not get away with this any longer!

Hello, I'm a member of Black_cats, and since this was offtopic there, thought I'd post it here, I just now blessed my youngest daughter for the goddess' and god's protection. And figured I'd state that. If anybody wishes to discuss, I'm welcome to a discussion. *smile*

Well it's been awhile since I've put any sort of entry up on Black cats, because, I felt they would be off topic until I stumbled on to this place hah. I've been a bit busy trying to get away from the anime art and get into the more of a fantasy type art. I've started drawing faeries, I don't know why but I feel pulled in that direction.

I've recently drawn a faery which I like to call La Luna or "Luna".

Her picture can be found here.

What types of faeries do you all think I should draw or any themed work for that matter?

Is hell endothermic or exothermic?
I dunno how many of you will have seen this already, but I just got it for myself. It's just a silly bit of religious comedy. XD

Weird Question
Does anyone think that there can just be an abundance of bad luck, or could it be something less "chancey?"
Lately it feels like we're cursed. It seems the more goodness I give out , the more bad things seem to happen. I try to look at everything in a bright sense, find the good that comes out of the bad, but my mother said that my grandmother once swore she would curse my mother and all of her family (grandmother hated my father but my mother chose him over her and married him, so grandmother went after mother with a knife, saying she was forever cursed.) I'm nearly 30 years old and feel silly wondering about this, but I am also tired of this little black rain cloud that seems to froever hang over our heads. I hope no one thinks I'm nuts...maybe the rest of the world has the same amount of bad luck in the same timeframe? Sorry for venting like this...

Merry blessings to you...
I'm a pagan girl, leaning mostly towards the Wiccan'Celtic/Gypsy/Faery persuasion type of magick, my husband being mostly Norse...
I don't get to talk about this stuff with many paople, so I thought this would be a great outlet, I like to share and learn. For now I will just put some pix behind a cut, we try to shroud our home in magick, and I look forward to many interesting conversations, hopefully! Blessings...

no more Witchcraft
I used to bye a magazine called Witchcraft and they used to also produce a diary every year. it was good had all the moon cycles and Sabbats ect. And now it's gone. I live Western Australia and their magazine was suited to the southern hemisphere too. And now it's gone.
I'm sad about that. Does anyone know anything about it? Why it's stopped being sold or produced?

So I have to write a paper about E.E. Cummings's "pity this busy monster, manunkind." Can anyone give me legit sites/books? I need at least one more source. Preferably an analysis by someone who's a professional writer. That would be awesome. And by Tuesday, if that's okay.

Can anyone please tell me if there are any sites out there that have an accurate history on Gypsy's (or Rom). I am working on a history for my character and can't find anything online that is helpful. Maybe someone out there has a better idea of where to look.

Fairies stop developers' bulldozers in their tracks
VILLAGERS who protested that a new housing estate would “harm the fairies” living in their midst have forced a property company to scrap its building plans and start again.

Marcus Salter, head of Genesis Properties, estimates that the small colony of fairies believed to live beneath a rock in St Fillans, Perthshire, has cost him £15,000. His first notice of the residential sensibilities of the netherworld came as his diggers moved on to a site on the outskirts of the village, which crowns the easterly shore of Loch Earn.

Vultures on the brink of extinction
They swoop down in flocks and can consume an entire dead cow in a matter of minutes. It's no wonder vultures don't always have the best reputation.

But in India, Pakistan and Nepal, the important role of these scavengers has been underlined as the birds are near extinction. Their rapid decline has been blamed on a veterinary drug, diclofenac, which the vultures ingest when feeding off treated cattle carcasses. New research shows the widely used anti-inflammatory drug is highly toxic to an entire family of vultures and may cause the birds' demise around the globe.
